mmic Medical Systems / VERDA Water Quality Systems is proud to recognize Philip “Ted” Cantin for his volunteer service and technical contributions to ASHRAE during the 2025–26 Society year.
Ted was recognized by William F. McQuade, P.E., CDP, Fellow ASHRAE, LEED AP, 2025–26 ASHRAE President, for his service on the following ASHRAE committees:
- SSPC 400
- SSPC 170
- TC 09.06
ASHRAE acknowledges not only Ted’s individual commitment, but also the importance of employer support in enabling volunteer members to contribute their time, talent, and expertise to the Society and the broader industry.
Ted’s service on SSPC 400 is especially meaningful to the work of mmic Medical Systems / VERDA Water Quality Systems. SSPC 400 was formed to revise and maintain ASHRAE’s building water systems risk management series of standards and guidelines, including Guideline 12, Standard 188, and Standard 514.
ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 514-2023, Risk Management for Building Water Systems: Physical, Chemical, and Microbial Hazards, establishes minimum requirements to reduce illness and injury associated with physical, chemical, and microbial hazards from building water systems. The standard applies to both potable and non-potable building water systems and supports owners, authorities having jurisdiction, designers, contractors, managers, operators, maintenance personnel, and service providers responsible for centralized building water systems and components.
Through this work, Ted is contributing to a critical area of public health, building safety, and water quality management. ASHRAE describes its water system risk management standards and guidelines as providing minimum requirements and guidance for building water system design and operation to reduce microbial risk while also accounting for associated physical and chemical hazards.
Ted’s service on SSPC 170 and TC 09.06 further reflects his broad technical engagement within ASHRAE. Standard 170 has provided guidance for ventilation requirements in health care facilities since 2008 and is part of ASHRAE’s health care facilities resources.
We are pleased to join ASHRAE in recognizing Ted’s professionalism, leadership, and commitment to advancing safer, healthier, and better-managed building systems. His participation benefits ASHRAE, the industry, and the mission of mmic Medical Systems / VERDA Water Quality Systems.
Congratulations, Ted, and thank you for representing our organization through this important professional service.
